Melbourn II vs Haileybury IV

Melbourn lost 12-3
Melbourn 2nds hosted Haileybury IV for this Herts Div 5 match.
First up was James Storer (3) who made a good start winning the first game 15-12. The next game proved to be the decisive game which James eventually lost 15-17. After that his opponent took control and won the match 3-1.
Roger Woodfield (2) also started well taking the first game 15-11. Once again the second game was the crucial one with the Haileybury player winning it 15-13. The match was lost 1-3 after the next 2 games were conceded.
The first string match followed the same pattern with Sean Hamilton (1) playing well to take the first game 15-11. Sean battled hard in the next three games but could not contain his opponent and, like the rest of the team, lost his match 1-3.
Skipper Woodfield said “It was a very competitive match played in a very good spirit. We all fought hard and all started well but, at the end of the day, we were beaten by a stronger team”
