Melbourn 2nds travelled to Stevenage for this Herts Div 4 fixture.
First up was Ewan Conradie (3) who was pitched against a very tricky left-handed player in Trevor Knott. The first two games were very tight with the Melbourn player just taking the first game 15-13 with his opponent coming back strongly to take the second game. After that it was business as usual as Ewan settled down and played consistent squash to win the next two games and win the match 3-1.
Next up was the Melbourn skipper, Roger Woodfield (2) who took the first game 15-11 against Ken Bate. Whist the next game was lost 10-15, the Melbourn player had several game points to win the third but was unable to do so and lost it 14-16. The fourth game was very competitive but Roger lost out and the match 1-3.
Colm O’Gorman (1) struggled to find his form and rhythm against Dominic Webster, a very accomplished match player, and lost the first two games. The third game saw some excellent squash from both players and the Melbourn player won it 16-14. The Stevenage player took control of the fourth game winning it and the match 3-1.
