The 1sts were edged out by PP/Uni 1sts at the Uni Sports Centre on Wednesday.
Mumin B (5) put in a great effort with some clever, tight Squash as his match went the distance Mumin won games two and four, but his opponent Alfie Lake just sneaked the decider. Next door older brother Malik B (4) was taking on Chris Nickerson. This one was particularly close as Malik put in a very composed for a solid 3-0 win.
Vinod D (3) rolled to a two game lead against Daniel Beer, but then found himself 9-4 down in the third. Vinod tightened things up from here, which may for very extended rallies and the game telescoping in time. Vinod clawed the deficit back to force a tie-break, which he eventually prevailed in 14-12 at the end of a 20-minute epic.
Ed W (2) played a tough match against Samuel Coward with two of the games only having a couple of points in them. However too many errors at key times from Ed meant he came up empty handed with a 3-0 loss. That made Matt S (1) against Reuben Morris the decider. This was a good game, with little to chose between the players, which was reflected in the exchange of games as Matt twice recovered a deficit to level. However, come the fifth, Reuben was the stronger player and he sealed both his and his team’s victory 11-6.
