Melbourn II vs Luton & Dunstable I
Tues 22nd May
Melbourn lost 4-9
Melbourn 2nds faced a strong team from Luton, losing their Division 5 match 4-9.
Ewan Conradie (3) played first against a young very promising player. Although Ewan was always in control and won 3-0, his opponent fought hard and put Ewan under constant pressure. The next match was very competitive with Sean Hamilton (2) eventually taking the opening game 15-12. But then Sean lost his grip on the match as his experienced opponent gradually took control winning the next three games and the match 3-1.
So the final string was going to decide the outcome of the match. Colm O’Gorman (1) had a tough match against a young qualified squash coach. O’Gorman played well but was unable to take a game, losing 0-3. Melbourn 2nds skipper Roger Woodfield said “In the end we were beaten by a better team on the night but they had to work hard to beat us!”
