Melbourn II vs Chantry I
Tues 17th July
Melbourn won 9-3
Melbourn 2nds returned to winning form with a solid victory over Chantry I.
First up was Ewan (3) who played consistently well to beat an enthusiastic but sometimes erratic player with a convincing 3-0 win. Rob (2) had a similar opponent who at times exhibited some good squash but was unable to maintain a steady performance. Rob’s persistence paid off and he took the match 3-0. The first string’s match was a very different affair with Sean Hamilton up against a strong experienced match player who was able to control long rallies and often produced the winning shot. Sean competed well and had to play his best squash to win points but his opponent was rarely ruffled and the match was lost 0-3.
2nds skipper Roger said “This was a good win for us after a poor run of results. We produced some solid performances and deserved to win this match 9-3.”
